Ep. 13: Masculados, Masculada and a Gaydar

by Anak Ng Tinapa

Pikot-ikot, pasikot sikot… Thus began the tree mail that each tribe received with regards to the impending second Immunity Challenge. The Castaways’ attempt at guessing correctly proved futile as the match mechanics are presented to them. With the onset of another rainy day, the tribes are asked to nominate who among their members is the strongest. Jon was the obnious choice for Nagar. Akihiro was chosen for Sar Mayee and Elma for Magan. “Buwi doesn’t look physically strong.” Said Solenn, on the reason for the Strong Mama’s choice.

Spin It, Win It!

As for the other members, each will take turns in the spinball contraption. When a ball sinks in a hole, the number associated to it will be recorded in their team’s roster. After all the necessary turns are made, the scores will be totaled. One point is equivalent to a kilo of weight that their strong-person will carry. The one who lets go of the burden looses the challenge for the tribe and they will vote out one member in the next Tribal Council. So the objective is to get the least score possible. At first, everything seemed to go well with Magan with both Buwi & Myka scoring the lowest number 1. However, Solenn scored a 5. The final tally stand thus: Magar at 26, Sar Mayee at 23 and Nagar at 22.

“Hindi ako tumanggi dahil gusto kong ipakita kung hanggang saan ang makakaya ko.” Said Elma, owing to the fact that she was chosen over the other two males in the tribe. Besides having to shoulder the most weight, Magan didn’t do her any favors when they loaded her with uneven burden. How much mess-up can one tribe do? During the endurance challenge, Jon was giving Mama Elma some trash talk, trying to get into her head. He realized that he appeared arrogant but he justified it with his determination to win Survivor, or maybe the big ol’ target on his forehead is not prominent enough. Eventually, Elma had to drop the load. She could not go on because of the abrasion on her back caused by the load-pole. When she went down, everyone in every tribe congregated on her. She may have lost, but she gained the respect of all, including Jon.

Feasting on Deviousness

When Richard presented Sar Mayee & Nagar the split Immunity Idol once more, he also added (yet again) another scroll. This was read immediately. It tells about the feast awaiting both winning tribes including meat that they can cook for dinner. Unfortunately for Karen, she won’t be able to enjoy that part of the reward as she doesn’t eat meat. Sar Mayee joined Nagar at their camp for the feast. The former was impressed with the quality of their shelter while the later tried to be good hosts. However, the goodwill didn’t last for long. Trizsa snuck in a chansing hug with Ian which the youngster didn’t like. Jon was annoyed by Karen’s loud voice. Michelle kept sneaking in taste test whenever a new batch of meat was done in the barbecue which Karen and Aubrey noticed and frowned upon. Ian tried to fish for info from Aubrey and the Hot Mama just spun tales. She did warn him about Jon & Michelle about which Ian promptly reported to the other two. “Aubrey had it in for me since day one.” said Jon. “In every season in Survivor, there is always a flirt.” referring to Aubrey. But it wasn’t just tribe against tribe. Jon was very displeased when Ahron grabbed half of the rice that was being shared by him, Michelle and Ian. When the wine flowed, Trizsa started entertaining them. She confided on camera that he thinks Ian is not totally straight. He seemed to think he has a built-in gaydar. Michelle tried to talk to Akihiro but Aubreywas watching like a hawk. So now the Hot Mama was starting to get on her nerves.

Usurper Issues

Before being shooed away, er, leaving Nagar’s camp, Sar Mayee asked for some extra stuff they had which the latter can use to improve their pathetic dwelling. Moi gamely grabbed stuff here and there and gave it to the departing tribe. With the exception of Ahron, the others were displeased with this. To them the objective was to make the other camps as miserable as possible to give them a better edge at challenges. “First of all, you are not the leader of the tribe. Second of all, who gave you the power to make decisions to give away anything?” Jon said.

Tomorrow: The blame game. Nagar bite each other’s head off. Another medical emergency for Myka?
