Of Drama Queens and Baby Sitters

Well. They did promise twice the drama. No wonder SPCDE is edging out teleseryes in the same timeslot. Some CAs are even trending on twitter.

We have been constantly reminded of the dangers in the island. But nothing has prepared the CAs for the most dangerous creature they would have to face: their partners.

Yup. It didn't take long (its still Day 1 and the sun hasn't set yet) for trouble to brew in paradise. An ex couple opening up old wounds. BFFs quarreling not over boys but if they should walk out (or swim out?) of the island. Arnold entertaining Aifha's advances (yes, this could be trouble if the real boyfriend pops up later in the competition). Angelicopter being the new doc ferds (the boss). Most unfortunate of events in this episode is Betong still getting lost in translation.

I'll say it again. The game has barely started and spirits are low in the two tribes. Bulan's woes are eclipsed by the fact that Geneva has been crying her heart out while walking aimlessly on the beach. Ms. Maribel's cooking of rice in bamboo didn't help raise the morale of the group since it was deemed too salty. Arnold even went on to say he hoped it was the last time to eat it. Why is no one taking survivor cooking classes with Marlon Carmen before they go to the island?

Geneva is totally out of her element and if we are to believe KC, had so much emotional baggage going into this competition. KC would later say it was probably the wrong time for her to be on SP. Wrong time. Wrong place. Probably wrong partner too. Hopefully if she changes her mind about quitting, KC should try to be a better emotional crutch to lean on.

Geneva also stated she couldn't play the game because it would involve telling lies. She would rather earn her 3 million in the "real world". Just my two cents. I don't think you can avoid lies if someone earns a living being a showbiz celebrity and endorser. You can't avoid cameras too.

Just the same, KC time and again tried to console Geneva and even said that preparations were being made for a boat so they could leave the island. Then again, they are just probably waiting for the island psychologist to arrive. Its like telling a kid you are going to buy ice cream but forgot to mention about the dentist appointment. You don't really want Geneva shouting "I'm not the crazy girl for this season."

I do appreciate Geneva for thinking about her son Heaven during all this. It would help her get perspective if she wants to continue or not. Forget about doing this for KC and decide whats best for her and her son.

Even if the episode was overshadowed by the Geneva and KC relationship, BFFs Aifha and Alyssa were not doing any better. But as far as BFFs goes, its quite normal to have quarrels and misunderstandings. Whats not normal of course is being covered by a camera crew while you breakdown while sitting on a rock as waves splash. Aifha has got to be the stronger person in the pair since Alyssa is having trouble adjusting to life in the island. I think the doctor's appointment calender will be pretty filled up this season.

Worth mentioning is Gino and Steff being concerned of the quarrels taking place. Hopefully they keep their promise of not ever fighting. Still 35 days to go guys.

Filo seems to show some leadership skills and patience which has surprised Ellen. If it isn't clear why he would have a 180 degree change in attitude, I can give 3 million reasons.

Arnold decides to play the cool cat when its comes to flirting with Aifha. Hopefully, John will still be around to back up Arnold if the boyfriend ever comes visiting the island.

Finally, who needs a script when celebrities actually tend to clash even with the closest of relationships? Sadly, some of the CAs will have to act as baby sitters for their partners this season. The drama does fill up episodes between challenges and tribal council thus avoiding the usual less than entertaining camp life episodes. But if quitting is going to be a trend for this season, a winner might be declared way ahead of the 36 days. I know its still the middle of the week but I really can't wait till the first reward/immunity challenge starts.

Geneva Cruz was everywhere on that island with everything except wits, coherence and vital signs of brain activity. Watching her was an agony!
