Being a castaway (CA) was probably the most difficult real character these celebrities will ever be in. The stage was an island with the most minimal comforts. When there were breaks in the filming, there were no chairs with their names waiting for them. No airconditioned trailer. No buffet catering. Not even a cellphone to send their latest controversial tweet. The hardest realization was probably that they were on their own and trying to co-exist with other celebrity castaways.

I never played the game and if it is any consolation, I'll just be safely watching the show in the comfort of my living room with my snacks, drinks, and the laptop to just check the fb comments or tweets from fellow dotcomers, viewers, and some "bitter gourd" people. Not worrying where to forage or fish my next meal, or if there is enough firewood, or if a snake will snuggle up with me in bed.

During their stay in the island, some CA's would probably have mumbled, "Man these times are hard.", quoting a line in a song from "The Script". Sure there were a lot of things to complain about. Reality of the game struck them the instant their two feet were planted on the shore of the island. The daily grind of physical exhaustion, mental fatigue, and overwhelmed emotions was slowly taking its toll to all the CAs.

But these are grown men and women who signed up for the show and were well aware that they would be subjected to the harshness of nature. They would be competing with fellow castaways and at some points, things were going to be a little ugly. Maybe some of the CAs haven't watched any season of Survivor Philippines (SP) or any Survivor franchise but did anyone expect this to be a long paid for vacation? Seriously, no one was allowed to bring their sun screen/block protection lotion.

So its Day 6 or 7 and CAs have aired their grievances to Richard during tribal council (TC). It is safe to assume that that some may already have been thinking of quitting. So its no wonder why the host would give a sermon (rather a wake up call) in TC explaining that SP is outwit, outplay, outlast and does not include outwhine.

It is a personal belief that Richard is the best authority present in the TC to talk about not whining or quitting in the game. Sure he was never a castaway in any season but let us go through the arguments.

Richard is one of the most successful lead actors of his generation with multiple high rating tv shows and movie box-office hits. A certified A-list celebrity. But when he was made host of SP and would be out in the island for 30 plus days did he whine and threatened to quit? No.

In other instances, did he complain, whine, or almost quit: 1) when he was asked to jump out of a helicopter and land into the sea in season 3? 2) when he probably had countless foot cramps for pacing back and forth every time he had to explain a reward or immunity challenge? 3) when he had soreness in his throat for continuously shouting while officiating / narrating the play by play during a challenge? 4) when he had to endure hours of throwing questions in TC and absorbing the castaways answers late in the night or up to the wee hours of the morning? or 5) when he forego countless opportunities to have the highest grossing philippine movie of all time and become the box office actor for the year (Not that he would be given the role of a gay soldier or an unfaithful husband)?

But bottomline, did he ever wanted to leave the show or doubt the capability of the production staff? We saw him complete season 3 and there were no indications someone else had to stand-in for him during the filming of the current season.

But kidding aside, being a host is a challenging job. For this TC, he was tasked to give "tough love" to the CAs who were folding under the pressures of island life and doubting the production staff. A pep talk to boost their morale will probably be given next but Richard knew he had to be firm with the CAs. Just like a drill sergeant in boot camp, he has to remind them of the reality they are in. That they had to toughen up or leave. The kid's gloves are off.

It would be interesting to see tonight how the CAs will be reacting to Richard's challenge to them. The swearing will be interesting since no footage has been shown in any season with the host being this intense. I wonder if he still sends off Tala with the good spirits protecting them or something. So lets watch how TC goes tonight and if the twitter universe will be flooded with comments from the viewers and current CAs.

SPOILER ALERT!

all indications point that one pair of the original Tala tribe will be getting the snuffer from Richard tonight. Some say, it won't be amaaazing.

I hate Paolo Bediones leaving Survivor he could have made a good deal with the celebrities his more experienced dealing with celebrities because he's truly a host.. Richard didn't handle it well I really don't like his tribal council approach Survivor Phil 5 don't get Richard 3 season he's just OK this 4th season is his worse

Angelicopter and Jackie's decision to quit is right as the SP's host goaded them to make spur of the moment decisions. Asking CAs if they want to quit instead of starting the vote is not in SP's agenda that night. Comparison to another show is unwarranted. Good his mom and sister came to the rescue later or else the rest of level minded Tala's will decide to quit also. The host should exhibit level mindedness always and not charge the already stressful CAs

Richard cannot live without the shadow of his family ... this season just made a stain in original Survivor... In fact Richard doesn't know what to say he just plainly got Angry just to say in the show that he burst(PATHETIC). he doesn't even know what to say to Jackie. he even cut Angelie when she's talking and what he said is far away from Angelie's trying to explain. he said " do you think these people doesn't think of castaways safety? and if something happened to the castaways those people loose their job" ... this mean he just don't think he didn't thought of if one of these castaways died those people behind can just lost their job but the castaway lost life and it's easy to say you care for someone I can say I care for Richard hahah the hell he can feel that I care haha ... the same feeling that the castaways felt when they've told that those people behind care for their safety... STUPID ... IDIOT ... HOST

All along akala ko yung Volcanoes will be showcasing there sportsmanship and gentleman appeal, while predicting Jackie as nuisance... In the end, I was proven wrong... The Volcanoes thought they are fighting players of their level even to the point of not thinking if their action will cause serious damage to win what? On the other hand, Angelicopter and Jackie showed all the guts and their emotional strength were far beyond what I have seen in the show from Day 1 of Survivor. They are not quitters, they resigned by matters of principle w/c Richard failed to grasp...

I understand that Richard is too young to see the mess happening in the show. This show is supposed to be messy but not this way, the survivors are supposed to be tested on their physical, mental and emotional endurance, ability to survive, and to escape danger. The management cannot help on danger w/c are beyond there control. But GMA crews in all there wisdom (I suppose there should be at least one who manages and thinks right) can discern if the safety of the cast is w/in there control. On raging storm, you cannot possibly send this people to play the game using a small boat when you have visual how high the waves are. THE BIG DIFFERENCE IN THIS KIND OF DANGER IS... THAT IS TOTALLY CONTROLLABLE, not like your snakes Richard... They have to wait till they need to abandon ship(boat hahaha)... What a joke... Remember Wowowee stampede? This things needs to be thought of, should be part of protocols...

Way out of league si Richard ni Mr. Bediones, but of course kasi iba talaga ang talent ni Paolo sa ganitong larangan, its not Richard's fault, and besides he is too young for this show. But after only 1 year, Richard thinks he knows everything about Survivor. What made me sad was parang hindi yata sya naadvise after the show kasi kahit sa talkshow lately he is hinting pasaway referring to some castaways, w/c I now see who he is pointing to, w/c means hindi nya matanggap that he failed to handle that scenario up to now. Actually he totally embarrassed himself, para syang si Geneva... Sabi nya, if you cannot survive here then quit, then after that "we do not accept quiters..."

After watching the 3 Survivor seasons here in Singapore, mukhang balik nalang ako sa TFC. Ipapacut ko na rin ang mobile TV ko for GMAPinoy, sayang lang eh. When I left Pinas nung 2005, GMA fan ako pero since walang GMA dito nagtyaga lang kami sa TFC, kinaiinisan ko lang nun is yung kamanyakan ni Willie. Lately when I compared the quality of the shows, mukhang titiklop ang GMA sa ibang bansa. Dati mas prefer ko ang Survivor over PBB, now baliktad na, not only because of today's episode but due to what I analyzed since the start of this season. Nakakalungkot din, but on the brighter side mababawasan ang monthly expense ko sa Singtel pagpinacut ko ang MIO-TV ko hahaha... Then tomorrow I will tell the whole story to my friends para hindi na rin sila magsayang pa ng pera, hindi naman din kasi sulit mapapahamak pa ang talents nila...
