No technical protests were made. Maybe nobody bothered to count at the time, so Bulan won the food challenge with finality. Disappointed with Mara & Maribel’s acceptance of the first Temptation Reward (Have they no appreciation of Mamabel’s effort? It’s not a bad feat helping FOUR people quit, ya know.), the Volcanoes stood up to get the next one to ensure that no one else will be tempted. So it was a 100K cash reward split between the two of them plus a couple of hotdog sandwiches. The catch was that the breakfast reward goes to Tala. They did not accept. Their loyalty to Bulan was such that no less than 300K each would make them betray the well-being of the tribe. So, no backlash for the time being for them.
The next day, as the Bulan peeps were happily scarfing down their protein, Tala made do with the usual rice flavoured with humor, until Maey & Isabel found “kamoteng kahoy” and sugar cane. Tala’s ”nganga” mode was lessened, somewhat.
The Immunity Challenge that followed was a test of endurance, needing to carry 1 kilo’s worth of crabs in each hand. The load must not reach the waist, must not be dropped. To make things worse, when one gives in, he or she needed to pass the load to another tribe-mate, hastening the recipient’s fatigue. There is the obvious advantage for the Volcanoes. However, Maey was a revelation, able to hold her own against the athletes and outlasting her bigger tribe-mates. But through some misfortune, she dropped a bag of crabs. Maybe it slipped; maybe it wasn’t passed to her properly. Regardless, she had to transfer the entire burden to an already fatigued Chucky. He valiantly held on as long as he could, with the encouragement of his mates, but his endurance is simply no match against John & Arnold.
Before Bulan, carrying the Immunity Idol parted with Tala, they made “C” signs at Maribel, an obvious instruction to vote out Carlo. Clearly incensed, Carlo told Mamabel point-blank that they will all vote for her and she’d better use her Immunity Bracelet, if she truly had one. So, will Mamabel whip out her IB or will she let Tala finally oust her? She does not look like someone who will go down quietly.
But the bigger question is... who got to eat those juicy crabs?
Tonight: Mamabel gets really pissed.
